Some random pictures from our time out in Madang this last week. Geoff's brother Neal (Weebs) was able to fly out to visit, which we thoroughly enjoyed!

We had our regional conference during that time as well. Had a great program for the kids. Skyler and Maddie even got to see their daddy teased by a puppet. Yippee.

We also got a few chances to check out some interesting WWII artifacts that are still laying around the area.

Neal, many people have commented on how much they enjoyed getting the chance to meet and get to know you!

Banjik River Hike

It's not often anymore I do hikes around Mibu just for fun. We had some visitors in this last week for a few days and so one morning the guys took a little hike down to the Banjik River, below the Beng village. We had a great time! Once down to the river, we meandered up the river to a sweet waterfall where I managed to get some photos I was pretty happy with. For your viewing pleasure...

We just got some family photos taken today. We always try to get updated ones when we're staying out in Lapilo for a break. AND we're able to send these out large size for the family members who like to download and print them.

11 year anniversary

Today Shannon and I celebrated our 11th year anniversary! We began a tradition a few years back where we take a fun photo of just the two of us and make a scrapbook page for that special day. We thought the photo from today turned out nice so we'll post it.

Clouds

I was cleaning up and organizing some of my photos recently and realized that I take a lot more photos of clouds than I thought I did. These are some fun ones. Some of them were taken from a helicopter (our only way of getting to and from town) and others from our porch. I think the reason I take so many photos of them is that they can be strangely beautiful and I often find myself looking at them and reflecting on the One that made them all. As huge and capable of torrential power as these clouds may be, creating them and the rules that govern their power was a small thing for God, who also created everything else and even gives amazing new life to formerly dead and useless things.

Fun on the ocean

I got a chance to go cruising around the coast a few days back with my friend Kyle in his boat. I don't get a chance to do that very often so it was something I was looking forward to. Got cut short by a storm that came in pretty rapidly, but had a lot of fun anyway. The ocean here in Papua New Guinea is so beautiful and I'm not sure why I don't get to take advantage of it more often! The aerial shot you see here is the type of area we were cruising around in.

Before I knew it quite the crowd was gathered in the house and seemed quite amused as they looked at photos of themselves from over 4 years ago!

Just some shots I took around Mibu that I thought were interesting. Not sure what I find so interesting about windows! Some kind of window fetish, I guess. I've taken quite a few shots like this that I really like. Maybe it's because each one is kind of a defining feature of each person's house. They're all different.

I thought these flowers were cool. Note the one with the white background and part of the petal missing. Skyler and I went out looking for flowers the other evening and she took to this one like a punching bag and smacked it one. Didn't realize till later that it tore part of the petal off. Oh well, pictures still turned out.

This is kind of a cool picture. It was really foggy here in Mibu the other day. At one point you could see through the fog where the sun was lighting through a large dense cumulus something or other cloud. Made for a cool picture.

Posilongge is a dear brother in the Lord and also a good friend. I've known him well for some years now. He was my language helper from my early days of learning the Ma language. He's come out of the bush with us to help us with our translation check and has been enjoying his stay in town with us.

Cow Encounter

There happen to be some cows that come around the outside of the fence every morning here in Lapilo where we're staying at the moment. Skyler loves calling out... er screaming out, "MOOOOOOOO" whenever she sees them. Of course, they all raise their heads in alarm when she does that. Then she's hooked! She got someone's attention! So she'll go over to the fence and they'll all come over to check her out. "Is she going to give us some grass?"
